She ran in the cold, heat and rain
everyday she would push past the pain
not to win any race
but to forget his face
moving on was her ultimate aim.

Exercise is great for pushing away stressful emotions. You can focus on the pain and pushing yourself and not think about the things that bother you. Never a runner though. I really hate it π Great piece!

Thank you! A torn meniscus and later a sprained ankle (neither from running and both separate incidences) and I have been grounded for a few years! π but yes, thanks for reminding me…I used to enjoy my early morning 3-mile kick-starts π

Thank you PJ. I’m dealing with a sprained ankle…and before that a torn meniscus. But once upon a time, I enjoyed a morning jog around the neighborhood! π

I’m sorry to hear about your ankle and meniscus (I hope I spelled that right, I can’t see your comment in order to get it right). Maybe by spring you can start your jogs again because your ankle will be healed.

That would be lovely…or at least able to get the dogs out for nice long walks. π

Yes! I plan on doing a lot of walking this spring (at our local dog park, which isn’t far from me). The dog park is pretty with lots of huge trees and grass and a walking path all the way around it. The dogs get to run around off leash. It is very nice.

We used to take Maxwell to the dog park, but the other dogs would pick on him (if you can imagine that with his size!) But he is so docile and non-aggressive he would fall on his back and let the other dogs pin him down. I do wish I could find a place to let them run off-leash other than our back yard! π

How sad the other dogs did that. I know dogs get on their backs to let other dogs know they aren’t agressive. The dog park is a wonderful place to let dogs run free and meet other dogs. Maybe once Maxwell got use to the other dogs he won’t let them bully him??

I think it was more the owner’s fault than the dogs, for letting their dogs overpower him. After one got overly aggressive nipping Maxwell, we decided it was not worth the risk of having him injured (and turning him into a dog leery of other dogs). He is fine with other dogs in controlled settings where I can trust the owners to control their dogs. π

Are these owners always at the dog park? I am sure they do it to other dogs too and some owners have complained. I know I would. My dog, Princeton (when he was alive) was a larger dog (An English Springer Spaniel) and someone let a stray dog into the dog park (a pitbull) and the pitbull went up to Princeton and started fighting him. Princeton was very leery and grumpy toward other dogs after that.

The parks near us are self-monitored, so if a problem arises, people generally just take their docile dogs home. There isn’t really anyone to complain to.

Oh, here, we complain to the City, department of parks and recreation. They probably can’t do anything, but we complain anyway. Haha!
