Cherita #20

heaven is falling

her wispy canopy
caressing earth

serenaded by birdsong
swelling in the mist,
mourning doves, blue jays, chickadees, cowbirds, and crows

Cherita ~ Day 19

sunburst at dawn

winter bones shimmer,
stardust frosted

an apparition
materializes
from wistful longing

Cherita – Day 18

a paper crown

lies crumpled in the sun,
gold rubbish on black asphalt

somewhere, a crownless royal
looks in the mirror, head bare,
the sting of loss settling in

Cherita – Day 17

we don’t want your prayers

void of spirit, void of heart,
talking points read from a teleprompter

but when there are guns at the gate
you may hear us praying, “build us a wall…”
and the gaslight flickers to black

Cherita Day 16

harmonic dissonance

in the key of c
wind-tossed chimes

collide, moaning
a storm is coming
a storm is coming
