Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse – 5 June 2016

Happy Sunday Lovies! It has been a magnificent week of “-ations” …revelation, anticipation, elation, determination, jubilation, inspiration, illumination, syncopation, celebration…oh yeah!

Celebrated a milestone birthday this week and this event affected everything I wrote. Needless to say, the celebration continues! In fact, each moment, each breath is a celebration!

If I learned anything at all this week, it is this, (thank you Magnolia tree for the reminder) that in order to be happy, live fully and make this life count, one must greet each moment with arms (or petals) wide open, because life is fragile and fleeting, but it’s also fragrant, inspiring and wonderful.Celebrate everything! The good, the mundane, even the bad stuff. It’s all part of the puzzle. While it may take a bit of tweaking we need every piece of the puzzle to complete the picture.

Am I rambling? Perhaps a bit. But rambling is okay. And standing still works too. Just remember to breathe along the way and try not to blink…you might miss something really really great!

Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse – 5 June 2016

I’ll take
my diamonds at
dawn, chartreuse,
dewy, baubles…
Anonymously
mystic alchemy
…through frosted glass
my heart remembers
Serendipitous, indeed!
Dutch oily balls and cakes
deep-fried dough doused in sugar
stuff yourselves with olykoeks
cloak the night as dew descends
lemony sweet ivory, bursting at dawn,
A breach in the chain
Piercing through one’s heart
Lingering scorches.

The Shi Sai, a form created by Kat Myrman in April 2016, is a poem created by taking one line of verse from several poems of an author’s own collection. The shi sai is done as a review of a series or collection of poems and therefore, each line should flow in chronological order of the dates the poems were written (from oldest to new). The lines chosen should be the author’s favorite from each poem. This form works best if the author resists the temptation to read the full new poem before all the verses have been added. (It helps one to resist the impulse to change a line to make it “fit”)

Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse ~ 29 May 2016

Perfection! I am in love with this week’s ReVerse! I have been less chatty this week but it is because I am approaching a big milestone this coming week. It is quite natural to look back when one reaches a decade birthday. Add to my own personal reflection the fact that the New Moon is also coming this week. It is the perfect blank slate to launch the next chapter of my life! I am so grateful to be here.

Have a wonderful week! I hope you have the occasion to eat cake! ❤️

I might give my younger self…
who fancied tufted tuffets
along the treaded road to home
the tree with a bird shaped leaf in winter
tattered, frayed on the edges
It’s only skin deep
urgency as if
I am Love and Magic.

Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse – 22 May 2016

Another week, another shi sai…ReVerse…looking back in snippets so I can settle in for another week with a clean slate

But..
the slate, is never actually clean or completely clear, is it? Our lives are the sum of  a multitude of experiences…flash points that leave indelible imprints in our memory.
The sun took a siesta this week, allowing hoards of gray, bloated, sweaty clouds to take up residence in its place. Endless gloomy weather does a number on my serotonin deficient brain. Even medicated, I find myself clamoring for bits of bright.

This is where mindfulness becomes my savior, especially if I surrender to each moment. Moments shift the spiral ever so slightly. It is there in the midst of beautiful chaos. It. Is. Here.

Have a great week, but first…take a moment…take two. 😊

Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse – 22 May 2016

“Maybe” is too tenebrous.
Bolt, skedaddle, flit
Nope! I told you, I’m good…
visiting my dreams,
azure strokes of ink on parchment,
Blue
don’t forget to stir
darkening blots on gray matter.

Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse ~ 15 May 2016

Another Shi Sai Sunday Week in ReVerse. This week was rather busy in my 9 to 5. I did consort with my muse though, in the in-between and wee hours. When life gets fussy with schedules and deadlines and such, I am so grateful for poetry. As long as I can loose myself in iambic pentameter every now and again I can trudge through the necessaries and know that I haven’t lost my soul.
But I do miss my bits of flash, as in fiction. And my little story series that is hanging on the cusp. I promise to get back to it soon. 🙂

For now, I am happy to be here in the happy place. I celebrated a year of blogging this past week. And my friend Lynn of LynzRealCooking became a Grandma to twins this week. She posted baby pics! You have to go see them!

Another friend, Jacqueline honored me with an interview. You can check that out HERE. Thank you Jacqueline! Did you know she just published her first book of poetry? You should check it out. Jacqueline is a wonderful writer!

Oh, and to round out my week I found another heart shaped rock. I collect them. (And I occasionally give them away if I encounter someone who looks like they might need one.) They are everywhere, but rare at the same time. It takes a bit of hard knocks for a common rock to become a heart. Pieces of its roundness must be chipped away. It may suffer tosses and tumbles and encounters with sharp obstacles to “become”. We are kind of like that. Each of us sharing our hearts from the messy life lessons we’ve survived, as well as the joy and beauty of it all. It has made us who we are. I love the first line of this week’s shi sai… It says it all!

Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse ~ 15 May 2016

We are connected by an invisible cord.
But truth…but Truth, sweet siren
songstress,
scattered randomly on air
enlightened souls
flower buds
more than a rainbow
she waits for dusk’s indigo sky
when life is fresh and roses drip with dew…
Now THIS, I can wrap my right-skewed brain around…
metamorphosis complete.

Shi Sai Sunday – A Look Back in Re-Verse – 1 May 2016

1461799388630-1

Happy May! It is Sunday time to look back as I do each week in a Shi Sai poem (a new form I coined yesterday that explains the odd collection of lines you see below…each one a favorite taken from this past week’s previous poems). I’m liking the new look of my Sunday post title. 🙂

It has been a busy week, complicated by a few days of being down, thanks to the generosity of my coworkers who love to share and who insist on coming to work when they are sick! That is certainly not me. When I am sick I like to crawl under my covers in a darkened room and sleep until whatever it is that I have has passed.

At any rate, I am relieved and quite excited to have completed my daily poem and new poetry form challenge to myself for the month of April. (I had no idea that it was a thing when I decided to give it a go…so I didn’t link to any similar challenges.I wasn’t being antisocial…just oblivious.)

I like today’s Shi Sai (Re-Verse). The week was indeed quite magical. There were several new poetry forms to learn, close-ups photos of flowers, celebrating the freedom flight of my garden faerie, and a successful google search for the mystery writer who first penned the word of the day on Friday. Not to mention, on a side note in cubicle world, I cracked the equation codes for an elaborate spreadsheet my boss asked me to develop…Haha! Bet you didn’t think this right-brained dreamer had it in her did you? That said, my first love will always be words. My relationship with numbers is, let us say….complicated!

And as the week came to a close…a rant. It was good to get the words and feelings out of my head so they wouldn’t fester there and cause me to do or say something I might regret…but I am generally a positive person. I try to live my life simply, respecting and having compassion for others. Life is too short for ugly. So the line for the poem below could only be the one I chose. Grace is new every morning after all. And I still hope.

Simple pseudo-handles work just fine.
waxing poetic perfection in words
graced in amaranthine blush
There once was a faerie held captive in clay,
if I were a faerie…it might look something like this!
as you looked away, blushing
when she was young and flowers bloomed…
Sleep on waves of red velvet
birdsong, wind-tossed forest whispers…
turn to ash aching for warmth
souls revealed line by beautiful line
The truth is just a breath away.
