“Delay” is the prompt for Ben Nicholson’s Six Word Story Challenge #6. I happen to believe his example is pure perfection! You should check it out HERE. Bravo Ben!

‘Twas a rousing week of colorful fiction, vexing rants and irony. True to form, for this weekly exercise I present a line from each post that grabbed my attention, in retrospect. We are a generation born
into a world of artificial
light, of neon gas, fluorescent
tubes and bulbous globes of amber
hue. Our restless nights are

see the dazzling, unobstructed
view of distant stars along the milky
way. We boast of our inventiveness
to cheat the limits of the day,
to toil instead from dawn to murky
dusk, through nights that glow in
eerie candescence, oblivious,
we’ve sold our souls and cannot
see how in the dark we are.
