Friday’s Word of the Day – Part 2

I couldn’t let this day pass without sharing this CLASSIC rendering of Spoonerisms. There are several versions. The original version is believed to be the brilliant brainchild of F. Chase Taylor, a radio comedian known as ‘Colonel Stoopnagle’ in the 1930s. The popular show Hee Haw did its own version in late 70’s. (I’ve included links to these sources below.)  At any rate…here is “Rindercella”…ENJOY!

Rindercella
A Spoonerism retelling of Cinderella fairy tale

Once upon a time in a coreign fountry, there lived a geautiful birl, and her name was Rindercella. Now Rindercella lived with her mugly other and two sad blisters. Also, in this same coreign fountry, there lived a very pransome hince, and this pransome hince was going to have a bancy fall, and he’d invited people for riles amound, especially the pich reople. Rindercella’s mugly other and her two sad blisters went to town to buy some drancy fesses for the bancy fall, but Rindercella couldn’t go ‘cause all she had to wear were some old rirty dags. Finally the night of the bancy fall arrived, and Rindercella couldn’t go, so she just cat down and sried. She was sitting there srying when all of the sudden there appeared before her, her gairy modfather, and he touched her with his wagic mand. and there appeared before her a kig boach and hix white sorses to take her to the bancy fall, and he said “Rindercella, be sure and be home before midnight, or I’ll purn you into a tumpkin!” When Rindercella arrived at the bancy fall, this prandsome hince met her at the door because he had been watching all this time behind a hidden window. Rindercella and the prandsome hince nanced all dight. And they lell in fove. And all at once, the mid clock struck night. And Rindercella staced down the rairs, and just as she beached the rottom, she slopped her dripper! The next day, this pransome hince went all over this coreign fountry looking for the geautiful birl who had slopped her dripper. They finally came to Rindercella’s house, and he tried it on the mugly other, and it fidn’t dit. Then he tried it on the two sisty uglers, and it fidn’t dit, and then he tried it on Rindercella, and it fid dit. It was exactly the sight rize! And so they were married and lived heavenly after happily. Now the storal of the mory is: if you go to a bancy fall and you want a pransome hince to lall in fove with you don’t forget to slop your dripper!

The above transcription of the Rindercella story is very similar to the version performed by Archie Campbell on the Hee Haw television show in the 1970s. Watch it here.

3 Day 3 Quote Challenge – Day #3

Today is the final day of this challenge….**sigh**. It has been fun! Today, I will leave you with some wise quotes indeed…from some of my favorite animated friends. Being animated as they are, voice, giving voice to things, and being authentic are very important…and so here are three quotes that, I’m sure you already know…but definitely worth repeating!

No challenge invites today…Just sharing the joy! Happy Thursday!

and the question is…

8

8 Ball by Kat 2015

I like to flip the Magic 8 Ball on my desk to see what my answer for the day is. The question is irrelevant. Unlike the instructions direct, I like to read the answer first and then nod to myself in agreement…or if the answer doesn’t resonate with me at the moment, I just flip the ball for another answer.

“Ah ha!” you may be thinking…”if you go for another answer, then you MUST know the question.” Um…not necessarily. The answers merely jolt my question memory bank so that I can apply the answer and put it to good use. And one other nice thing about 8 Balls. If you don’t like the answer…you don’t have to entertain it. There are 20 other possibilities waiting for your next flip. Of course, all this only works if you believe in the magic of a Magic 8 Ball. I believe in magic.  Sometimes only an 8 Ball will do.

If this all sounds a bit wacko, I might agree with you, if it wasn’t me we’re talking about. I like to think…scenarios, ideas, strategies. There is never a time when I’m not thinking about something. And now you’re thinking, “this girl needs to meditate…or medicate…either might help.”

At any rate, I decided an answer might be a nice thing to have today. I dusted off my Magic 8 Ball and gave it a flip…and this is what it said…”YOU MAY RELY ON IT.” And of course…it got me to THINKING!

The first question that came to mind was, “what is it?” I mean, what is IT? While I’m not entirely sure, the answer did get me to think about all the things I pretty much can’t rely on…List A…and those things I can rely on…List B.

Here are my lists. What would you add?

List A – The Unreliables
People
Cable News
Public Transportation
GPS Systems
Expiration Dates
The Weatherman
Banks

List B – The Reliables
Dogs
Shade Trees
The Sun
The Moon
Stars
Gravity

Do you see a pattern here? Oh and one more thing you can rely on…Magic 8 Balls! I’m sure I’m missing something…(Note to Self: add memory to the unreliable list.)

I still don’t know what the question is. But like I said, that’s irrelevant. Whatever IT is, I know I can rely on it. (because the Magic 8 Ball told me so). In this crazy, chaotic world, I gotta say that’s kinda nice to know.

Hope you’re having a fabulous Wednesday! 🙂

3 Day 3 Quote Challenge – Day 2

Happy Wednesday and Happy 3 Day 3 Quote Challenge Day #2. My selections (I chose two today) are all about the dance. I am not a good dancer. I’ve been told as much by my friends. But I am still moved by music and life, and graceful or not cannot help myself from dancing! So if you happen to be on the dance floor when I am there…you’ll recognize me as the awkward clodhopper in the middle of the floor. I won’t notice you, because I will be DANCING!  (I hope you dance 🙂

For day two I extend the invitation to join this challenge to:
Lynn at Lynz Real Cooking
Black Cherries at CherryTales
Karina at Writing the Wrong, Right, and Ridiculous

As I mentioned yesterday…if you three would like to join me, please post a quote a day and nominate three for three days. And…it’s okay if you don’t have the time. You may graciously decline. No pressure. 🙂

3 Day 3 Quote Challenge – Day 1

Thank you to Arcane Owl for nominating me for the 3 Day 3 Quote Challenge. I think I figured out what I’m supposed to do, so without further adieu, here’s my first quote.

inspirational-quotes-for-best-inspirational-quotes-collections-2015-31

There have been several times that life has required me to step off the edge without a net and without the comfortable resources of the “shore”. Each time has not necessarily been a rousing success, but I have always managed to take something positive from each experience, and I suppose that has given me the courage to try again. Peace to you on your own journey…:)

For day one I extend the invitation to join this challenge to:
Jacqueline at http://acookingpotandtwistedtales.com/
Olga at https://odaciuk.wordpress.com/
Willow at https://willowdot21.wordpress.com/

If you three would like to join me, please post a quote a day and nominate three for three days. And…it’s okay if you don’t have the time. You may graciously decline. No pressure. 🙂
