Steam Haiku
To sputter and hiss,
To spout steam like a kettle
Dial up the heat!
Like a whistling pot
She kept her feelings hidden
Until she was steamed!
“Just blowing off steam…”
Justifies their behavior

I received a request from my friend Lynn, a fellow blogger of the site, “LynzRealCooking“, to write a Haiku inspired by an incredible photo she took while on a walk at a nearby arboretum.
You should visit her blog. As its title suggests, you will find a variety of wonderful recipes that she has perfected over the years while raising her 9 children. I wrote a trio of Haiku inspired by Lynn’s tree photo. If you look closely at the tree on the right, I hope you’ll see “her”.

Tis another Friday Word of the Day Haiku! Today’s Word is “Crepuscular”. According to Dictionary.com, this delicious word is related to the Latin term “creper” meaning obscure or dark (the Oxford Dictionary relates its Latin meaning to “twilight”). It entered the English language in the mid-1600’s.
I personally love this time of day…the dusk before nightfall. How delightful to have a new word to describe it. It naturally calls one to settle in for the evening…perhaps I shall this evening…tuck into a “crepuscular” nook with a good book!

like fireflies and faeries

In the beginning
Seed pods burst from Gaia’s heart
Springing forth in song.
Then
Summer
Kissed each bud
swelling in bloom
As fragrant
Petals
Fell…
On beds draped in mist
Cool Autumn’s nip then rendered
Back to Gaia’s breast
A host of slumbering seedlings
Under blankets Winter white.
