Florescence Day 14

this cat in shadow play,
most weekends start this way,
might linger til mid-day, it’s my bliss

Florescence Day 14 for Jane. It’s a typical Saturday here in the ‘Noke (short for Roanoke), lounging past dawn into noon, writing poetry in my pj’s, my cat Casey perched in her spot chasing squirrel and bird shadows. On to the magnets to confer with my muse and then a try at the latest NaPoWriMo Challenge. I could get used to this. ❤️

Daily Florescence

there’s a lovely stillness
on this windless, cloudless
azure day, sun-fluoresced, frost-nipped air

For Jane Dougherty’s Daily Poem Challenge, a Florescence. And this, another look outside my window. The world just beyond the pane.

True Story a la Florescence

so, my facebook was hacked,
then suspended, in fact,
‘twas a phishing attack, spy bots blow! 🤬

For Jane Dougherty, a true story, regrettably, a la Florescence. I’m afraid I took the bait, having received a message from my grandson who I rarely hear from (first warning, disregarded), I was ever so eager to see what he had sent to me (hooked) only to find that my mistake sent an army of cloned messages to everyone on my friends’ list (so sorry) and finally the cruel chiding from Facebook…suspension. That was my Monday. I’m still reeling! 😫

Florescence Day 11

for a lift every day
draw the blinds up, away
’cause all work and no play is a chore

~kat

Another Florescence for Jane Dougherty’s Daily Poem Challenge. This is my oasis…my respite from the deadlines, boring meetings, missed lunches at my 9-5. I have spent years doing what I do in windowless cubicles, never seeing the light of day, so I am very aware that this is an enormous perk…to be able to see the outside…even if I don’t have time for a stroll to feel the breeze on my face. I have rearranged my office to give me a side view out and I have decided to draw the shades up to the ceiling, giving me a full floor to ceiling view. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it sooner. What a lift it gives me to see daylight every day. Hope you have a window view in your corner of the world…even for a brief moment or two. It makes all the difference!

Florescence #10

late afternoon sunlight
blusters a bit too bright
one last hurrah, dark night at the gate
