It’s time for another cleave poem. You know the drill. Read column one top to bottom first, then column two, then for the grand finale read each line all the way across. Three poems in one.
Winning
there is no pleasure in winning / when winning is all that matters
for those seeking justice / the fight is to the death
it’s a matter of survival / with disdain for the weak
preserving the collective soul / because bleeding hearts
goodness, compassion / are for losers
in the redress of grievances / it’s not personal
long overdue / this world is for the taking
any victories gained are / by any means
tinged bittersweet / and in the end
until everyone is free / it’s all or nothing
there is no pleasure in winning / when winning is all that matters
