Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse – 12 June 2016

Happy Sunday! Another chapter and verse review of the past week. An interesting Shi Sai, in that it reads more like a story than poetry, but that doesn’t surprise me. I was able to carve out a bit of time to participate in a few flash fiction challenges. I’ve missed those!

So today I give you a prose poem that tells a story of its own. And as with any good story there is a simple lesson to take away. In a nutshell I think this week was telling me to say what I mean… and mean what I say. And it’s also a reminder to me that I need to say the important things while the people who mean the most to me are still here to hear me say them.

Tell those that you love that you do, speak kindly to strangers, don’t hold your tongue when it comes to the truth. Life is too short for regrets.

Love and light to you…and peace…always peace. ❤️

Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse – 12 June 2016

I’ll probably regret this…oh well!
sometimes it’s best to leave things alone.
…slips of the tongue…
Who would do such a thing?!
…full of chatter, laughter and memories of those that were lost
gloaming on the cusp
We have gravitated to other means of speaking our mind…
clipping through choppy swells
as if they truly mean it…
Why couldn’t you just tell me while you were still here…

Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse ~ 29 May 2016

Perfection! I am in love with this week’s ReVerse! I have been less chatty this week but it is because I am approaching a big milestone this coming week. It is quite natural to look back when one reaches a decade birthday. Add to my own personal reflection the fact that the New Moon is also coming this week. It is the perfect blank slate to launch the next chapter of my life! I am so grateful to be here.

Have a wonderful week! I hope you have the occasion to eat cake! ❤️

Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse ~ 29 May 2016

I might give my younger self…
who fancied tufted tuffets
along the treaded road to home
the tree with a bird shaped leaf in winter
tattered, frayed on the edges
It’s only skin deep
urgency as if
I am Love and Magic.

The Shi Sai, a form created by Kat Myrman in April 2016, is a poem created by taking one line of verse from several poems of an author’s own collection. The shi sai is done as a review of a series or collection of poems and therefore, each line should flow in chronological order of the dates the poems were written (from oldest to new). The lines chosen should be the author’s favorite from each poem. This form works best if the author resists the temptation to read the full new poem before all the verses have been added. (It helps one to resist the impulse to change a line to make it “fit”)

Sunday’s Week in ReVerse – 27 March 2016

Happy Sunday! And to those of you who celebrate, Happy Easter! I recall the feeling that the past week never seemed to end! There are week’s like that. I kept having to check the calendar to convince myself that it wasn’t Friday yet! What’s with that?

For starters we had a full moon this week. It was especially brilliant in my neck of the woods and I don’t usually fall victim to lunacy. Haha! Perhaps I did feel a bit too giddy from this month’s full worm moon touch!

In the midst of that, of course, we all paused to remember the victims in Brussels…and for me the senseless victims of violence in other places that don’t make international headlines. For my own conscience, it is important to me that I pause to remember that people, with dreams and families and hopes, met their untimely death in these tragedies…not just body counts…cold detached numbers. People.

So to say that last week was chaotic, off kilter, grievous, loony, and discombobulated would be quite accurate in its wake. This week’s ReVerse captures that description quite nicely.

Have a lovely uneventful next week, unless if course you are planning something eventful! In that case I hope it is spectacular and that you pull it off without a hitch! All this to say simply, best wishes! See you next week then! 😊

Sunday’s Week in ReVerse – 27 March 2016

How easily hope slips away!
From her twinkling eyes.
before the wedding
After a deluge
…if they forget
I watched helplessly
your shadow danced with the light
The blind perceive things
I know you didn’t invite me over here for giggles!
She had a thing for shoes.

Prayers for Brussels

Now THAT is weird!
When she looked in the mirror, her eyebrows were gone!
And the blokes wear tights!
suspended on penumbral cusp
Stopping in my own happy place.
Some haughty snobs schmooze
Just beyond the veil of darkness.

Sunday’s Week in Re-Verse – 6 February 2016

Mad Hatter: Have I gone mad?

Alice: I’m afraid so. You’re entirely bonkers. But I’ll tell you a secret. All the best people are.

…from Alice in Wonderland

Welcome to the beginning of the long days of winter. No holidays to speak of. Spring is coming, but it will be a bit more of a wait for most of us. It’s still entirely too dark too soon in the evening. And several loony poems and a few dark stories later, except for my girls the bovine fashionistas, can’t forget them, or the whistle pig for that matter…oh and I think it all started with the ducklings. But then what do I know. I am just the words on this page plunked from the keyboard by the fingers connected to some silly brain full of more words. It’s like bingo balls spinning round and round until one falls out the shoot. B-16. Don’t ask me how I came up with that number. It plopped out.

And this my friends is how the week that was went. Thank goodness I do these weekly summaries so I can spill them out for one more look and then tuck them away! One of our friends here, Kathryn (from Another Foodie Blogger) asked me after a few stories…”do you think Sunday’s review will be a dark one this week?” I winked and replied (she didn’t see me wink, but I assure you I did), “it’s all in the editing.” And to another friend, Lynn (from Lynz Real Cooking) I replied at one point, “I can pull happy out of just about anything”…or something to that effect. Have a look at this week’s “re-verse” and see for yourself. Once again I am amazed and delighted.

There were a number of dark prompt photos and prompt words, but hidden in each verse or prose, some of my favorite lines always happened to possess a bit of light.

That, I have come to realize after many years, is no accident. No matter how dark things may appear, there is light somewhere waiting to spill out. And that includes from the very center of my heart and soul as well. That happy spark does make me feel a bit mad sometimes when I am beset with drama, but it is that touch of madness that keeps me sane! 🙂

And so, my dearies, another week has come and gone. The dread of the blank page that I feel as each week begins has been overcome again and then some. And I will overcome, come Monday, because there is no lack of words swirling around in my brain. Someone give the bingo balls a whirl. Here we go! 🙂

Oh…I’m posting Sunday’s Re-View early because I got a new mattress today and I plan to sleep in a bit.  And…because I can. Isn’t that a lovely thought? You can do whatever you want to do…be you…because…you…can! 🙂

Sunday’s Week in Re-Verse – 6 February 2016

Sometimes being late isn’t the worst thing that can happen
the darkest nights are fading now
moving on was her ultimate aim
but it’s a fuzzy science at best
stars taunt us with hope

“Exactly! Just what I was thinking!”

You’ll likely arrive too soon
the mem’ry of that autumn night
but a girl can dream!
That night I became acquainted with death and the fragility of life.
nobody listened
scorned like the dodo.
it’s nugatory
striking a pose, dazzling in gold!
to cover more ground…

“Well, you’re here just in time you know.”

If you’re new to this blog, a bit of background to explain the verse above. It is a line from each poem or prose from the previous week. Lifted and placed in the order written. A snapshot review of the week. It helps me to prepare for the upcoming week with a clean slate.
