Manic Mondays – Hush

MMHush

hush

in the dark
i’m frightened
of things
of falling down
trouble tells me
to hide
to fear
to keep inside
hush, hush
down
down
down
keep in line
hush
keep it down
voices carry,
darling
voices carry

For Manic Mondays Three-Way Prompt Challenge: Word – Hush, Photo above, Song – Voices Carry by Til Tuesday

Voices Carry

I’m in the dark, I’d like to read his mind
But I’m frightened of the things I might find
Oh, there must be something he’s thinking of
To tear him away-a-ay
When I tell him that I’m falling in love
Why does he say-a-ay

Hush hush, keep it down now, voices carry
Hush hush, keep it down now, voices carry
Uh-ah

I try so hard not to get upset
Because I know all the trouble I’ll get
Oh, he tells me tears are something to hide
And something to fear-eh-eh
And I try so hard to keep it inside
So no one can hear

Hush hush, keep it down now, voices carry
Hush hush, keep it down now, voices carry
Hush hush, keep it down now, voices carry
Uh-ah

Oh!
He wants me, but only part of the time
He wants me, if he can keep me in line

Hush hush, keep it down now, voices carry
Hush hush, keep it down now, voices carry
Hush hush, shut up now, voices carry
Hush hush, keep it down now, voices carry
Hush hush, darling, she might overhear
Hush, hush – voices carry

He said shut up – he said shut up
Oh God can’t you keep it down
Voices carry
Hush hush, voices carry

I wish he would let me talk

Dirge – Manic Mondays

DirgeManicMondays

darkness
i understand
dreams
grow dark
i go into
the night
of my heart
the flame
rises,
I desire

~kat

For  Manic Monday’s Three-Way Prompt: Word: Dirge, Photo above, and the Song: Aniron by Enya. As I do every week, the poem inspired by these three are a Black Out poem taken from the translated lyrics of the song below:

O môr henion i dhû:
Ely siriar, êl síla
Ai! Aníron Undómiel

From darkness I understand the night:
dreams flow, a star shines
Ah! I desire Evenstar

Tiriel arad ‘ala môr
minnon i dhû-sad oltha
Ai! Aníron Edhelharn.

Having watched the day grow dark
I go into the night – a place to dream
Ah! I desire Elfstone.

Alae! Ir êl od elín!
I ‘lir uin el luitha guren.
Ai! Aníron Undómiel.

Behold! The star of stars!
The song of the star enchants my heart.
Ah! I desire Evenstar

I lacha en naur e-chun
Síla, éria, brónia.
Ai! Aníron Edhelharn.

The flame of the fire of the heart
shines, rises, endures.
Ah! I desire Elfstone

Manic Monday – Forlorn

manicmondayforlorn

Forlorn

white satin
letters written
beauty missed
with these eyes
what the truth is
I can’t say ‘cause
people can’t
understand
what you want
in the end

breathe deep
the lights fade
people look back
and lament
useless
spent

Lovers, lonely
for love,
cold-hearted,
rule the night
which is an
illusion

A Black Out Poem for Manic Monday’s Three-Way Prompt based on the word “Forlorn”, the photo above and the Moody Blues song, Nights in White Satin (Lyrics below…I love that song!)

Moody Blues – Nights In White Satin Lyrics

Nights in white satin, never reaching the end,
Letters I’ve written, never meaning to send.
Beauty I’d always missed with these eyes before.
Just what the truth is, I can’t say anymore.

Cause I love you, yes I love you, oh how I love you.

Gazing at people, some hand in hand,
Just what I’m going through they can’t understand.
Some try to tell me, thoughts they cannot defend,
Just what you want to be, you will be in the end.

And I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.

Nights in white satin, never reaching the end,
Letters I’ve written, never meaning to send.
Beauty I’ve always missed, with these eyes before.
Just what the truth is, I can’t say anymore.

Cause I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.
Cause I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.

Breathe deep
The
gathering gloom
Watch lights fade
From every room
Bedsitter people
Look back and lament
Another day’s useless
Energy spent

Impassioned lovers
Wrestle as one
Lonely man cries for love
And has none
New mother picks up
And suckles her son
Senior citizens
Wish they were young

Cold hearted orb
That rules the night
Removes the colours
From our sight
Red is gray and
Yellow white
But we decide
Which is right
And
Which is an Illusion

innocence ghosting – Manic Mondays

Innocence Ghosting

innocence ghosting

we skipped the crown
humming
flew away
it was later
that her face
turned pale
she said,
 there is no truth
let her be sixteen
eyes open
might just as well’ve
be closed
her face ghostly pale
and so it was

A Black Out Poem for Manic Monday Three-Way Prompt inspired by the word “Ghostly”, the photo above and the song below with black out.

Whiter Shade Of Pale

We skipped the light fandango
Turned cartwheels ‘cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
But the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
As the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
The waiter brought a tray

And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale

She said,There is no reason’
And the truth is plain to see
But I wandered through my playing cards
And would not let her be
One of sixteen vestal virgins
Who were leaving for the coast
And although my eyes were open
They might have just as well’ve been closed

And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale

And so it was that later

Wrecked – Manic Monday

MMWrecked.jpg

sorrowful am i…
the sand, your pillow
seaweed, your bed
candles, your watchmen
though you drowned
with you, I would go

~kat

A blackout poem for Manic Monday’s 3-Way Prompt: Word Prompt: Wrecked/Photo (above)/Song: Ailein Duinn (see lyrics with translation below w/word selections in BOLD).

Lyrics for Ailein Duinn by Celtic Spirit

Gura mise tha fo éislean,
Moch ‘s a’ mhadainn is mi ‘g éirigh,
Ò hì shiùbhlainn leat,
Hì ri bhò hò ru bhì,
Hì ri bhò hò rionn o ho,
Ailein duinn, ò hì shiùbhlainn leat.

Ma ‘s e cluasag dhut a’ ghainneamh,
Ma ‘s e leabaidh dhut an fheamainn,
Ò hì shiùbhlainn leat,
Hì ri bhò hò ru bhì,
Hì ri bhò hò rionn o ho,
Ailein duinn, ò hì shiùbhlainn leat.

Ma ‘s e ‘n t-iasg do choinnlean geala,
Ma ‘s e na ròin do luchd-faire,
Ò hì shiùbhlainn leat,
Hì ri bhò hò ru bhì,
Hì ri bhò hò rionn o ho,
Ailein duinn, ò hì shiùbhlainn leat.

Dh’òlainn deoch ge boil le càch e,
De dh’fhuil do choim ‘s tu ‘n déidh do bhathadh,
Ò hì shiùbhlainn leat,
Hì ri bhò hò ru bhì,
Hì ri bhò hò rionn o ho,
Ailein duinn, ò hì shiùbhlainn leat.

English Translation:

How sorrowful I am
When I rise early in the morning
Ò hì, I would go with you
Hì ri bhò hò ru bhì
Hì ri bhò hò rinn o ho
Brown-haired Alan, ò hì, I would go with you

If the sand be your pillow
If the seaweed be your bed
Ò hì, I would go with you
Hì ri bhò hò ru bhì
Hì ri bhò hò rinn o ho
Brown-haired Alan, ò hì, I would go with you

If the fish are your candles bright
If the seals are your watchmen
Ò hì, I would go with you
Hì ri bhò hò ru bhì
Hì ri bhò hò rinn o ho
Brown-haired Alan, ò hì, I would go with you

I would drink, though all would abhor
Of your heart’s blood after you were drowned
Ò hì, I would go with you
Hì ri bhò hò ru bhì
Hì ri bhò hò rinn o ho
Brown-haired Alan, ò hì, I would go with you
