Roadkill Cherita

black crow, cackles,

buzzards prowl, circling
predators in black on blue

cars swerve around roadkill,
a heap of fur, unrecognizable,
its death vapors rising

I swerved ’round a dead skunk on the road this morning on my way to work, slightly smashed from tire treads, a fluff of black, red and white. The sky natives were restless. And so, another Cherita documenting life on the edge of drear.

Rain Grey – A Cherita

Raindrops on double-layered, resin-laminated glass

heavy, grey fog obscures the distant mountain vista;
scrawny winter trees, black-wet, line acres of partitioned asphalt

I sit, sipping jasmine, sugar-sweet tea under fluorescent yellow strobes
and see my red fiat 500c sandwiched between two SUV’s, my escape from the madness
what I wouldn’t give for a puddle to stomp but the grated abyss has devoured it

Another view from Cubicle-World on this bleak winter’s day captured a la Cherita. I typically lunch at my desk…blah…blah…blah. And occasionally I am pleasantly interrupted from the drear by my muse…or maybe it is just the rain.   🙂

Lab Rat Cherita

I am a lab rat, an ‘esc’ key click away from madness,

trapped inside a three–walled cubicle…three? Cubed?
forced to stare at an LED screen…read, respond, delete, repeat,

while typing onto a carpal tunnel-mitigating, wrist-supported keyboard
for hours and hours and hours and overtime, darkness to darkness,
the edge of lunacy teetering on a swiveling, ergonomic chair on wheels.

Another Cherita…As I may have mentioned…work this week is a BEAR! 🙂

Stink Bug Cherita

wintering in rouge chiffon

a Stink Bug, Halyomorpha Halys,
Brown Marmorated, unwelcome interloper

no amount of silken adornment
can disguise who and what you are…
a repugnant, reeking vermin disturbing my peace…lily

Iced – A Cherita

beneath the cloud-shrouded moon

she’s wearing diamonds tonight
in stillness but for droplets drizzling

every bough alive, bedazzled
in fluorescent-kissed ambiance
winter tree aching for the sun
