I’m a bit late to the 2024 party. As fate would have it, I was exposed to not just one, but two nasty viruses on Christmas Day at a family gathering. First to darken my door was the flu…a nasty strain this year…and then, just as I was feeling human again a week later, on New years Day, COVID finally got me (a first for me). I suppose I’ve joined the herd. If not for the booster I got last November, the doc said I might not have faired as well as I did. Still it was not how I planned on ringing in the new year! Anyhow…we’ve been snowed in for a bit…things finally melting, and I snapped this view out my front door this evening. It blew me away. I am so grateful for the beauty that surrounds me. For each sunrise and sunset. I hope you and yours are well.
Before I close out this post, I must share another view of the photo above. I applied a mirror filter to it and lo and behold, there she was right there reminding me Gaia, (as I imagine her at this time of year) sleeping amongst the roots, deep underground waiting for spring! What a gift this slight of photo editing produced! Isn’t she amazing!!! If you look at the original, you’ll see her peeking out at you. Sometimes it takes a mirror to see things more clearly.
It’s a reminder to me that it’s okay to rest (I’ve rested a lot this year). A new year need not be tackled all at once. We have 365 (actually 366 days this year) to live the promise of 2024.
I wrote a little haiku too. Of course I did! Peace and much love to you!

gaia suspended
deep beneath the snow
she slumbers, dreaming of spring
winter lingers long

Hi Di! Thank you, yes! I’m on the mend. I tire easily but I just take time to rest when that happens. 😊

Glad to hear you can rest up when necessary. Hubby naps on the settee most afternoons now.

Hi Willow!!! So good to see you. I am getting better, gaining my strength back everyday. I need it. Traci is likely confined to a wheelchair permanently. We are still working on finding solutions for the pain…nothing has worked so far. ☹️ But that said we’re managing. This has been a bonding experience for us. And we celebrate every little victory. Thank you for asking Willow! Much love!!! 💚💚💚💚

I am so glad to hear you are improving and coping with Traci’s pain . I am not in a wheelchair but nearly was after breaking my back twice. I had to have three ops. If it helps I found blogging really helped me come to terms with things and the pain . One book that really helped me was and is by Vidyamala Burch it’s called Living Well with pain and Chronic illness. I do not mean to interfere but it might help. It so nice to see you back , 💜💜💜

Thank you Willow! Much appreciated, truly. Traci has found that coloring detailed mandalas using colored pencils to be very therapeutic to helping her manage the pain. 🙂 Needless to say we’ve gone though loads of pencils and dozens and dozens of adult coloring books this past year. But whatever works, right!?? 😊

Yes indeed your right! Whatever works grab it and stick with it. Have a look at the book online … I found the mindfulness lessons very helpful. We all do what we can .💜💜

Hi Colleen. So good to hear from you. Life threw us a curveball last year and the hits just keep on coming now in 2024!!! But it’s all good. I’m learning to roll with the flow. Just don’t have the time I used to have for writing so I grab the moments when inspiration strikes! Hope you are doing well. 😊💚
