Day 24’s Essence for Jane Dougherty’s Challenge is dressed in white…again. Winter is not finished with us yet. Another tantrum expected today. I shall be heading out for milk and bread soon…I’m kidding of course. There are a few other things on my shopping list as Saturday is my go to market day. I truly dread having to mingle with the bread and milk fiends. At any rate, bad weather is the good news for today…while orange is off golfing our children will be marching in the streets for their lives. Spring snow is a dreary diversion from the madness, but also a sobering reminder of a bitter chill that refuses to leave.

I’m interested in your spelling of the word grey. I thought US spelling was always gray. Hope your marching children get more than the abuse I’ve been seeing on twitter.

It’s true. The US likes it’s grey with an “a”. I just happen to like the proper spelling better than the Americanized hybrid. Grey with an “e” looks and feels softer to me. Gray is more harsh…steely in its presentation. All this to say, you know I’m a rebel Jane…😊 As for the children, I have personally contributed to their cause, and will continue to do all that I can to keep their voices from being silenced. There is a fierce roar on the wind today. It is a beautiful, bittersweet sound.

I’d like to think that each kid who marches has a couple of parents or grandparents marching by their side. I agree about the softer look of ‘grey’.

It’s unconscionable. Since you do not get the news from our side of the world, I’d like to share a bit of insight into the lunacy of the adults we have appointed to lead us. I read yesterday that a school in Pennsylvania decided, as a way to empower the teachers and children, each classroom will be equipped with a bucket of river rocks that the children can throw at shooters who come to kill them. This is not fake news. I wish it was. 😕

When we see a kid playing with a dangerous toy, we take the toy away in case they hurt someone with it. Your gun nuts seem to take the alternative approach of handing dangerous toys to all the other kids too and saying, deal with it.
