Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse ~ 23 October 2016

Happy Sunday! Can I just say that I LOVE this week’s Shi Sai?! Well, I do! It perfectly sums up the week that was in the wake of this month’s Super Hunter’s / Blood Moon. It’s energy can be summed up nicely by this Rumi quote:

“Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.”

As different as the posts were this week, when I lifted a line from each, the message became undeniable clear to me. My subconscious found her voice, prodding me to embrace those things that feed my soul!

In truth, I have been moving along this path for a while, but this week’s full moon energy just put a stamp on it. Signed, sealed…it’s time to deliver. And I have never been more ready. 😊

Have a wonderful week!

Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse ~ 23 October 2016

“Oh! I’m sorry! Too much? Not enough?”
two restless souls stared at the ceiling
fast asleep
moon-blushed crimson, rooting deep,
shape-shifting shadows
it was a grim sight.
she was beginning to realize, and didn’t mind admitting to herself, that she wanted more
why simply frolick?
sometimes tradition is meant to be broken
listen to the beautiful, deep.

The Shi Sai, (formerly known as a ReVerse) is a new form I came up with during Poetry Month in April 2016. I’ve actually been writing shu sai for years but was inspired to give it a proper name. It is a poem created by taking one line of verse from several poems of an author’s own collection. The shi sai is done as a review of a series or collection of poems and therefore, each line should flow in chronological order of the dates the poems were written (from oldest to new). The lines chosen should be the author’s favorite from each poem. This form works best if the author resists the temptation to read the full new poem before all the verses have been added. (It helps one to resist the impulse to change a line to make it “fit”.

Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse ~ 16 October 2016

I am so grateful for today, for this day of rest, for the beautiful blue sky blushed gold by the sun, for the cool snap of autumn in the breeze.

How I wish I could pull blankets up to my chin, stretching my feet to the end of my bed where the sheets are soft and cool and just stay here. I’d like to turn it all off…the cacophony of insults, lies, malice and discontent. The ugly sight of the world imploding all around me. Just for a day.

At least in looking back at the words that managed to spill from my brain I can sense that there is hope. I’m going to hold that thought as I head back into the fray this coming week.

There is still and always hope.

Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse ~ 16 October 2016

I grieve for the leaf who’ll never reach home
(You don’t want to blend completely.)
I suppose the end justifies the means
a little hope is all
I was just thinking.
those who persevere
bien que nous cacher au monde
though we hide from the world
it’s not mutable
we can depend on this truth
a handful of us will always believe
as if they could quiet
her beautiful pure spirit,
the treatment involves your heart.

Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse ~ 9 October 2016

Weird week. Cyberspace is on fire with inconvenient truths for some and revelations of inconceivable atrocities perpetrated by a man who aspires to lead our nation. From one side of his boastful mouth he mocks us claiming that his words are “just words” and from the other side he claims to speaks for us.

He doesn’t speak for me. And I pray that those who sleep in acquiescence to his vile aspirations and actions will wake up soon…before it’s too late.

That is all I have today. It’s been a weird, sad week. 😔

Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse ~ 9 October 2016

lines bit by bit
breeze through life
life’s first little death
birthing hope in ecstasy
each moment matters
true service is free
haunting the hopeful
but i have felt them
each creak, each groan tells the tale
truth matters…reason matters…words matter…anything less is just noise
saying, “come on baby, smile…”

Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse ~ 18 September 2016

It’s gorgeous in my corner of the planet this third Sunday in September. The seasons are shifting. For some of us this means cool morning snaps and shorter days. It is a time for gathering and for reaping what we have sown. It’s a time for celebrating life’s abundance and time to prepare our hearths and homes to see us through the coming winter and longer nights.

We don’t have a choice in the goings and comings of the seasons. They cycle in and out like clockwork, never looking back, never stagnant, always moving forward.

Unlike nature humans have a choice in how we meet the seasons of our own lives. We have a choice to move past our yesterdays; to use the present moment to decide whether we will stay mired in the past or learn from it, to let go and move forward. We can even choose to go backward. Freedom of choice is what sets humanity apart from other living things. It Is exhilarating but it is also a great responsibility, a burden even, because our choices matter. Like nature, despite our illusion of independence, we are connected to each other.

Our individual capacity for goodness as well as darkness affects us all. It’s something I think about. Especially now. May we all remember we are not alone in the choices we make. I’m counting on us to move humanity forward.

Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse ~ 18 September 2016

Never forget
frost comes gently at dawn
feelings, reputations, spirits,
twisted, then snapped from their roots
to ensure the greatest good
clouds shape-shift by day
what will be will be
The things people collect, and the photographs that they display, often tell hidden stories that are never mentioned in polite conversation.
Oh, surely I knew
an overweening tyrant
a new ball of yarn
Plop, kerplunking, pitter, pat
you might be deplorable
fighting for my heart.

Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse – 11 Sepember 2016

It’s Sunday and my usual time to look back at the week that was by lifting a line or verse from each of my postings from the previous week. The resulting “new” poem becomes a Shi Sai (re-verse) and often reveals an enlightening perspective of the previous week.

Normally I would share my reflections in this space, but this week I’d like to invite you to read my last post. You can find it HERE.

Of course no Shi Sai Sunday would be complete without the new/old verse. Here it is then:

Shi Sai Sunday’s Week in ReVerse – 11 Sepember 2016

as days rush to dusk and nights amble long
with wild seeds of secret
knowing…
by learning to bend
yes, it is a “thing”!

All birds sing in the morning, each one checking in with the others to let them know they have survived the night.

they won’t help me forget
lightness, serene calm and a swirling sky above beckoning her to fly
outshining our sun
can make onlookers edgy
weak knees and cold sweats
it’s an illusion
Yes, I know you and you know me.
