you know i want to
poison your dreams
the same as you
but i hold back
i can heal
i have a choice
i choose love
always will
always will
always will

Another Manic Monday 3-Way Prompt Black Out Poem inspired by the prompt word: POISON, the photo above and the song Poison and Wine by The Civil Wars (Lyrics with blacked out (lined out) text below).
Poison & Wine
You only know what I want to
I know everything you don’t want me to
Oh your mouth is poison, your mouth is wine
You think your dreams are the same as mine
Oh I don’t love you but I always will
Oh I don’t love you but I always will
Oh I don’t love you but I always will
I always will
I wish you’d hold me when I turn my back
The less I give the more I get back
Oh your hands can heal, your hands can bruise
I don’t have a choice but I‘d still choose you
Oh I don’t love you but I always will
Oh I don’t love you but I always will
Oh I don’t love you but I always will
Oh I don’t love you but I always will
Oh I don’t love you but I always will
Oh I don’t love you but I always will
Oh I don’t love you but I always will
I always will
I always will
I always will
I always will
I always will

Thank you Laura. I do love doing black out poems and your prompt gives me the perfect opportunity with a song prompt added to the word and photo. Have a great week! 🙂

I think that’s really clever. I’ve never come across that idea before.

Hi Kristian,
There was a Black Out challenge a year or so ago. The host gave us a poem or song or block of text and we were challenged to create a new poem by lifting words in order. I enjoy it. It is a great exercise if you are suffering from writer’s block. Magnetic poetry (the online version) also help one to find words that seem elusive. 🙂
