this night of moonstruck lunacy
she winks at us through bud-tipped trees
suspended on penumbral cusp
this Spring’s first full-faced moon displays
her edge, in crescent-shaded gray
while worms emerge from frozen dust
churning the soil swelled with seed
a feast where robins flock to feed
like a diamond in the rough.

The moon has been spectacular here too. ‘suspended on penumbral cusp’ I like that line 🙂

When I did a bit of research I learned that the moon would be in partial eclipse. I find that the sun and the moon always look more brilliant when an eclipse is encroaching. Spectacular to view in all its stages! 😊

Thanks PJ. First time in a long time it hasn’t been overcast or raining at the full moon. The perfect introduction to Spring! 🙂

Beautiful poem, and it was an amazing moon! So many wonderful phrases, the moon winking at us, suspended on penumbral cusp. . .
