Word of the Day from dictionary.com
Today’s word of the day from dictionary.com is another ancient, rarely used word, and when it is, it is found more in the realm of psychology and the study of positive thinking.
It originated in the early 19th century: from Greek eudaimonismos ‘system of happiness’, from eudaimōn ‘happy’, from eu ‘well’ + daimōn ‘guardian spirit’. Though when I first saw the pronunciation of the word, I couldn’t help thinking it sounded like “street talk” for something like…”Hey…U demonic?!” At any rate the Eudemonic we are featuring today is an adjective…not a question! 🙂
Though I will admit that there are times when my level of euphoria over something can verge on the manic side. I blame it on being a Gemini. Just last night I was over the moon over discovering snowflakes on WordPress AND the fact that I could change their direction by moving my mouse left to right!!! : ) : ) 😀 But…I digress.
Here’s my Haiku. Have a EUDEMONIC Weekend! 🙂
Those who are happy
live a eudemonic life
of true gratitude.

A former Franciscan once described this to me as making friends with your demons, which led me to study singing, which has helped me sort out a whole bunch of identity issues.

Oooh I love this word, I had never heard of it. I agree, it sounds like street talk, though. 😀
