Sunday’s Week in Review – 15 November 2015

This week roared in like a lion as cooler blustery winds ushered in the last days of Autumn. The kitchen called for a batch of vegan chili while steamy teapots sputtered and hissed. With gilded gold paper cranes dangling, we honored those who served and remembered those lost, while petty people argued about red cups. This week of happy reunions and ghost sightings we never suspected the tragic turn that this 13th Friday of November held for a beloved nation…for all of us…as the last leaves of summer were plucked from tree limbs. So many words…so many emotions…this is the week that was as I reflect on it one last time in verse…

Sunday Week in Review – 15 November 2015

Fragile limbs exposed await
Rebirth in the Spring.
Weath’ring every storm.
but I am delighted to report that I have a keeper here.
To sputter and hiss,
Like a whistling pot
“Just blowing off steam…”
ambient lamp light glows warm
I hardly noticed
like moth to flame, besotted.
Healing dreams come true
golden delicious butter
hoarding lies, like gold.
The hopes, fears and dreams we shared back before life got complicated.
But there they are!
Starbucks Cups…REALLY?
a nation solemnly declares
Suffer(s) no critics
with all eyes on her now
For the people of Paris…
I watch you cling
to the last leaves of
summer
rising from the depths
Forgive him, she did…for herself.

If you’re new to this blog, a bit of background to explain the verse above. It is a line from each poem or prose from the previous week. Lifted and placed in the order written. A snapshot review of the week. It helps me clean the slate…reflect, and ready myself for the new week.

Sunday’s Week In Review – 8 November 2015

A tad early…I have a busy day tomorrow so I decided to do my Sunday Week in Review a wee bit early. Have a great Sunday! Actually…it IS tomorrow (Sunday) for some of you so…it’s all good, eh?! 😊

It’s time to look back once again on a very full, and it seems from the aggregated verse below, quite a reflective week.

I love this week’s review. It speaks of this season of change and letting go and reinforces the truth that even in endings there can be great beauty and peace when one is able to surrender to the process.

Of course, you may not get all of this when you read the string of verse below. I suppose it is because I am in the Autumn of my own life that the lessons I’ve gleaned from this week are so poignant.

May the coming week be a treasure trove of blessings to you. Thanks for stopping by and entertaining my rambling. Peace out fellow Word Pressers!

They found something more.
I hope you don’t mind
I have an amazing story to tell!
A moment spent breathing…
She stood tall and lovely against the crystal blue sky.
I keep forgetting…
Coming to the end of one’s
season is not pretty and yet…
On beds draped in mist
like fireflies and faeries
dance to cricket song.
Maybe we need a second opinion?”
in time for some wintry zzzz’s.

A curious week this was, what with a full moon, and Halloween, thinning veils and spooky themes. It made for quite an interesting verse in review, but as it always seems to, this week makes perfect sense in retrospect. And so we settle in to begin a new week and a new month. Darker, shorter days and cooling temperatures. Hope you had a great week too! 😊 See you on the other side!

Sunday Week in Review – 1 November 2015

She was a collector of old things,
Tomorrow
Nips at our heels
With troubles
That can
Wait.
The footsteps behind her got faster.
deep cerulean on white
Next time you decide to be a hero, let someone know!
her reflection lied
But it is the photo pictured above that he carries with him always.
Someone really should move that old chair
but don’t intrude
the spirit world encroaches
“Unbelievable!” he cried.
moonglow and cricket song
and at the shore i like my
sea to foam in azure mist,
The choir sweetly sang
avoiding every sidewalk crack
They’ll find you my sweet.

Sunday Week in Review -25 October 2015

What an interesting week! When it began I didn’t know that my life would be changing by week’s end. Yet here I am on the other side with another little soul to care for. Lucy is home with us now. There was also the closing of a chapter, but not of a dream. The dream lives in the words spilled out on the “pages” of this blog.

I learned a new poetry style, the “sept” which I truly enjoy, and I learned a new word that I shall likely never use. But that being said, I am glad to have learned it. Life is about always learning and transition and change.

Would it be an overstatement to say that a lifetime was packed into this short seven days? Perhaps. But that is how eternity works. 🙂

Have a wonderful week ahead. I’ll see you on the other side 🙂

Week in Review ~ 25 October 2015

Hearts exposed
Fulfilling
Hopes and
Dreams
Separate
Once, now
One.
it’s okay to grieve.
‘midst the din of rousing cheers!
I can listen
in silence we knew
In lay terms, he was a butterfly chaser!
souls sucked deep into the grid
It will change their life…and yours!
Apply coercive herd management techniques if necessary.
one really can’t blame him for his scheme!
How audacious of me to think it, but oh, if it could be me she chooses!”
Icing on the cake.

Sunday’s Week in Review 18 October 2015

Late night, or rather, early morning post…
What an interesting week! As usual the compilation of a line from each post waxes a bit poetic in a quirky sort of way. It reads like a snapshot to me. In fact when I read it I thought, “This is so me!” At least for this week. And about that word quirky…I’m curious now..must look up its origin. Whoever thought of it…I think I like them! 🙂

grief consoled by Pines.
how can you miss someone you’ve never met?
It suits me, don’t you think?
I don’t know how I got here.
All things are worthy
Maybe that is the point.
She’s a late bloomer
A rogue or scoundrel
Whoever thinks reptiles don’t snuggle has never had a tortoise whisper sweet nothings in their ear.
