A Surprise Limerick

“Surprise me!”she often said.
Two words that filled him with dread.
No matter the choosing
he ended up losing.
Now she does the planning instead!

A limerick for my friend Rashmi at Mind and Life Matters who gave us the prompt “surprise” for this week’s Limerick Poetry Challenge. If you’d like to read others or participate, click HERE.

Heartbeat Measures

We measure our lives
In syncopated heartbeats
our days are numbered.

A Haiku in response to Ronovan Writes Haiku Challenge #76. Prompt words Sing & Day. I was tempted to try Ronovan’s new poetry format, the Freku, but holiday festivities are jealous for my time. Maybe in 2016. Happy Holidays to all. If you’d like to read more, click HERE.

Star Fall

Shimmering crystals
Drift from the mauve canopy
Like frost-kissed stardust!

A little magic gif art (by moi) and Haiku this holiday week for TJ’s Household Haiku Challenge/Prompt Word: Star. To read more click HERE.

Ecstacy

Photo Credit: Nasa’s “Diamonds in Space”

One
might think
that it is
the diamond
who seeks out the light
but most surprisingly
it seems that it is the light
in her magnificent splendor
who is wooed by her own reflection
manipulated by each facet
called to dance in prismatic bliss
splintering in ecstasy…
it is the diamond
who holds the power
rendering light
unable
to look
hence.

An ascending/descending nonet in response to Jane Dougherty’s poetry prompt #10 based the photo above, Diamonds in Space, from NASA. To see other verse on this prompt or to enter your own click HERE.
