By day I can be found in a corporate cubicle, corresponding with and for executives, creating reports and planning fabulous events and travel to exotic places for other people! Occasionally, while my co-workers are breaking for coffee, or lunch…or a smoke, I take a moment to peruse the Reader here to see what you all are up to, or to pen a short Haiku or two. Most of my inspiration and productivity happens in the wee hours of the morning or late into the evening after I have fed, pottied and bedded all the critters that I live with. My children are all grown with families of their own, so I have oodles of free time…in my dreams!
When I first started here on WordPress, I was so nervous about sharing my writing with anyone. I invited only a few close friends who I knew would be encouraging (it’s good to keep a few of those friends around in a pinch). And, well, what the heck! I threw caution to the wind and left the site “open” to the world when I set it up. To be honest, I didn’t really expect much traffic or notice. I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to write or what I wanted this blog to be so it became an online journal more or less. A poem here, an essay there…a recipe or two. A place to simmer thoughts, reflections and perceptions while also sharing a bit of photo art…my new found artistic passion. I don’t know much, but what I do know, I know with great conviction and heart. That is not to say I am doggedly serious here. I write for the love of words and to have fun…hopefully if you are visiting you will have a bit of fun too.
After a dozen or so likes and as many followers, I decided to get “serious” about this blogging thing. Lucky for me WordPress was launching another one of their Blogging 101 classes (which I highly recommend!) It was free and required a loose commitment of only a few weeks (though you will get most out of it if you try to make the required deadlines and complete all the assignments). My world grew from that moment on, by leaps and bounds. I started to meet people from all over the world who share the joy of creating as much as I do. I have also found that I love to write flash fiction! Who knew?! (I’ve always been a non-fiction kind of girl) So you will likely see me adding my creative take on the various photo and flash fiction challenges each week. You should try it! It’s a great way to practice your writing skills! Needless to say I am hooked!
If you’re visiting, welcome! Grab a seat at the table, sip a bit of tea with me (or a coffee…or vodka!) and let’s get to know one another. The humanity in me honors the humanity in you…
Peace out!
Oh…and the critters in my life? Well they have their own story to tell and prefer telling it on Facebook. You can visit them HERE. 😊 (Henry’s Friends)
NEW in 2016!!! You can now follow me on Facebook as well. Just click HERE for the link and give me a “Like”. 🙂

Thanks Kat, for reading me and liking my blogs…I really like this about pg…felt exactly like you when I came online on WLS eight yrs. ago..was also the very first time I ever had a computer…Windows Home Vista at the time…so in the midst of blogging, I was also self-learning how computers worked…no big deal, right? NOT, lol! Remember how scared I was after I came on WordPress…lost most of my WLS friends to Facebook and had to start all over again…never thought of ACTUAL writing..you’ve given me something to think about there…mostly I write what’s around me, in here…out there…and music is my signature..cannot post a blog without it…connects me to all that’s amazing in this world…so now I’m going to read you a little tonite…do a lot of my stuff in the wee hours as well..be blessed this night. Katie.

Hi Katie! I like that you include music! I haven’t figured out how to do that yet. Since I started last May, I have gotten involved with several poetry and fiction challenges. It has really improved my writing skills, so you’ll see a lot of that on my blog. My main reason for being here is to write. So all these opportunities fit the bill. Thanks again for stopping by. 😊

Yes! I’ve seen that happen even in Springfield Illinois. lol People can be very dramatic about the snow. But then again, my friend from North Dakota would scoff at our “blizzards” when she lived in Chicago. It’s all perspective I suppose but I can surely do without any snow at all.
