Of all the ideas she’d ever idealized, this was the worst. There would be no impressive swan dive into the deep under pale moonlight, to the tune of The Band Perry’s dirge, “If I Die Young” piping through the earbuds of her iPod. A detour had diverted traffic across the bridge.
“Give me a break!” she mumbled. It was always something. In truth, it was drama, not death, she craved most.
Like the time she swallowed a bottle of pills that turned out to be laxatives. Her half-hearted attempts to end things were always sabotaged by her worst enemy. Herself.

I had to chuckle a little over the bottle of laxatives. It is pretty obvious that she is her own worse enemy. Great story!!

I. too, got a laugh out of the attempted suicide with laxatives. I hope she’ll find a purpose and stop trying to off herself. Nicely done.

Thank you for the welcome! The laxative part is loosely based on a tragic true story…not a suicide attempt, but rather a case of mistaken identity…but that as they say is another story!!! 😊 I’m glad to have found you. I love 100 word challenges!

Even attempting suicide for the sake of drama shows a damaged person. She needs help and understanding.
