A Haiku for TJ’s Household Haiku Challenge – Prompt: Windowsill.

I spend 5 days a week, 9 hours each day in this space! If not for this beautiful full wall of windows I imagine I would wither away eventually from lack of sun. I count my blessings every morning when I arrive and every evening when I depart into what is often a breathtaking sunset. Thanks TJ for helping me to remember to be grateful this fine Monday morning!  Here’s my Haiku”

Renoir’s Intriguing Lady

Auguste Renoir Odalisque 1870, oil on canvas

Eyes piercing, flash gray
Lips, on the cusp of a smile
With secrets to tell.

For TJ’s Household Haiku Challenge: Choose a painting or sculpture for this week’s prompt. Recently while visiting the National Gallery of Art, I happened upon this painting by Renoir.

Once she had captivated me, I couldn’t look away. I imagined that she had quite a story to tell, but alas, she lounges suspended in colorful oil paint daubs on canvas for eternity intriguing passersby like me.
