little piggies at the market – a rant
when you refuse to wear a mask
and stand too close to me in line
I bite my tongue and bide the time
and mumble to myself, ‘you ass’
is courtesy too much to ask,
or kindness, manners? what the hell!
who made you special, huh? do tell!
it’s freedom, liberty you prize
no matter who gets sick or dies
i wish…no that’s not nice…you well
~kat
For today’s challenge at RonovanWrites, a Décima where the word PRIZE must be one of the D line words. Then the other D line(s) word(s) must rhyme with PRIZE.
A Décima is a 10-line poem with 8 syllables per line. The rhyme pattern is: abbaaccddc. Further study of this form indicates that the subject matter of a Décima tends to be more socially conscious than some poems, taking on topics such as philosophy, politics, dogma, and religion. It can also be in the form of satire, criticism or insulting to an enemy/opponent in a situation.
Sometimes you break the rhyme into two stanzas using the following rhyme pattern.
abba/ccddc

😉 it’s infuriating. These people tend to be so rude on top of selfishly putting others at risk! Ugh!

That’s good Di. I live in rural trump country…the non-maskers think they’re making a statement. 😠

Pfft. The holidaymakers here think because they’re on holiday the rules don’t apply to them, hence why we shop elsewhere. Not looking forward to the weekend at all, especially as it’s supposed to be really hot again.

I am stuck in rural redneck Trumpville, where masks are ridiculed as silly and vaccines are a communist plot. Unfortunately, My health dictates I take precautions against the virus – Which means I can no longer go to coffee in local cafes, go to church, or visit friends, or stop by a local tavern because no one wears a mask or practices social distancing. I feel ostracized from local events that include community BBQs and street parties. -Because no one has died from coronavirus in my small community it is taken as proof that it is no big deal. I try to explain to people the fact I’ve had a stroke, had triple bypass surgery, struggle with my weight, and have battled diabetes for years, that I am at high risk of catching and not surviving corona 19. It seems I live in an area where I must wear my big boy pants and suck it up. Life is almost not worth living!

Oh my gosh. I feel your pain and live in a similar place. Sadly wearing a mask protects others so it’s understandable you stay clear of places. You are not alone, but I hear you. This whole thing is getting old! 😞 but life is worth living. I hope you continue to stay safe and well.
