Twittering Tales #112 – 27 November 2018

1510584710974-1

About the challenge: Each Tuesday I will provide a photo prompt. Your mission, if you choose to accept the challenge, is to tell a story in 280 characters or less. When you write your tale, be sure to let me know in the comments with a link to your tale.

A final note: if you need help tracking the number of characters in your story, there is a nifty online tool that will count for you at charactercountonline.com.

I will do a roundup each Tuesday, along with providing a new prompt. And if for some reason I missed your entry in the Roundup, as I have occasionally done, please let me know. I want to be sure to include your tale.

Finally, have fun!

And REMEMBER…you have 280 characters (spaces and punctuation included), to tell your tale…and a week to do it. I can’t wait to see what you create this week.

Starting us off…

How We Came to Be
The old well had dried up years ago, but that didn’t stop the stream of dreamers with pockets full of pennies from seeking it out. It was said, if your coin plopped instead of plunked when it hit bottom, your wish would come true. I made a wish one rainy day. My wish was you.

You Grow Old
I hated my job. A job I had held since I was eight years old. You grow old down there, they used to say. When I was a kid, I thought it meant it was an easy job. A job where I would die an old man. I didn’t know there was more than one way to grow old. The tunnelers knew though.

Holed Up
Earthlings used to worship me.
Over the years, worship morphed into exploitation and contamination.

Now they call me liquid gold.

Thank you to everyone who joined the challenge last week. Some very interesting things happened at the bottom of that well. You all are so creative! This week I mashed up a few photos that I found on Pixabay. One by pasja1000 (Senior Couple) and the other by StockSnap (Children). My first thought for the theme this week is “Bucket List”, so that is what I’m calling it. You can launch your tale from the mashed up photo below, or if you choose write about the concept of a bucket list or someone’s bucket list…maybe your own.  Did they ever do or see the thing they dreamed of? Or did it remain forever on that list. Did they regret it or come to some other realization as a result of not realizing or finally realizing their goal? Anyhow, you get the picture. Have fun…in 280 characters or less…and I see you at the roundup!
