dogwood trees are in bloom
petals, bright, chase the gloom
though stormy clouds may loom, life is good

Florescence Day 20 for Jane Dougherty’s Daily Poetry Challenge. Today a look up the street of my neighborhood…at the dogwood blooming. My favorite tree along with the Magnolia. Have a happy Friday everyone!

Pretty! Your dogwood is a more spectacular tree than ours. The flowers are more like hawthorn blossom and they’re not out yet.

I thought they might be different from you comment yesterday Jane. I made it a point to snap a photo yesterday afternoon when I got home to show you a Virginia dogwood. 😊

Ours are used more in hedging that for ornament.

Here we use various pine trees for yard edging and and azaleas for house hugging. 🙂

Same here (except for the azaleas) but for field hedges the farmers use all kinds of trees: hornbeam, hazel, dogwood, maple, oak, ash, hawthorn, briar, rose and probably dozens more that I haven’t noticed 🙂

I miss living in the country with no neighbors for miles. 😊

We have neighbours within sight. It’s rural but the individual holdings are very small. The one we live on was never more than four hectares. Most are bigger than that but 20 hectares is quite a reasonable size around here.

I had to look up what a hectare is. That a nice little plot. I have a small plot in the city roughly 743 square meters (8000 square feet), barely enough grass to sink my feet into! 😊

I thought you had hectares too, sorry. We only have half of the original farm. They old couple sold of part of it (the vineyard) then when the old lady died, her nephew sold off a bit more to the people who’ve created a pond on it. It can only be used for agricultural purposes, so in theory there can’t be any building on it. In theory…

Don’t apologize. I love learning new things. I’ve never really had that much land but my homes have been in the woods so the neighbors we not visible from the house. 🙂
