it takes empathy
the kindness of bleeding hearts
freaks who care too much
to restore our dignity
and grace, our reputation

Isn’t that the truth? Until we start electing officials who work for the American people and not for their donors – this gun issue will persist. I have no idea why we can buy assault weapons. It makes no sense to me. Let the hunters hunt, but outlaw assault weapons that are made for one reason – to kill! Thanks for letting me say that. An emotional Tanka. ❤

You are welcome. We should all be saying it! No more being silenced by “it’s too soon” rhetoric. The best way we can honor the victims is by solving this problem. No one needs assault weapons, but the military and law enforcement …the well-regulated militia of the second amendment is often overlooked by the “right to bear arms” argument. Phew. Thanks for opening the conversation…and letting me say that. 💔

Hugs to you, Kat. We’re on the same page. Too bad our elected officials aren’t. 😦

Empathy will not help anyone involved. Ban the Guns! Wake up the American Government, please, your children are dieing.

That is very true. Sadly those in power are owned by the gun lobby and only care about children before they are born. It is small consolation that I did not vote for these monsters. (my candidates lost) We need empathy in a sense…to wake people up from their separatist attitude and to get angry enough to vote for people who do care. This current crop of politicians care only for themselves and for lining their pockets with as much as they can get.

This is such a sad enditement on the world. Ruled by those who do not care about those they represent, and worship only the God Mamon! 💜

I loved your poem, though not the reason for it.
‘the kindness of bleeding hearts’ such a potent image. I look forward to reading more.
