‘Do you not hear me calling, white deer with no horns?’—W.B. Yeats
sickening the surreptitious poison
seething decades long, progress regressed
strides reversed, equality is frozen
by patriarchal fools who ‘know what’s best’
deafened to the earnest accusations
of innocents so easily oppressed
gather they, in secret consultation
seeking to exploit, for gain, the nation
slowly voices from the ash, defiant,
demanding recompense, proclaim, ‘me too’
legion, they are over being silenced
willing to face demons, armed with truth
exposing vile molesters, cads and tyrants
and they’re not backing down, this is a coup
apathy is never a solution
stir the masses, join the revolution

Powerful piece for women’s right and protections, not to be abused, treated as sex objects, and not to not have equal rights to men. Love love it. It’s so needed in times like this with all those movies producers and stars being revealed as molesters and abusers of women in the industry.

Yes! Clearly we have been at this for quite a long time…and still a long way more to go!

This is so true…but I do feel a boldness in the air. Women are speaking out, no matter the cost. It’s important we rally round them inasmuch as the right rallies around it’s abusers.

I hope it is true and not just a fad. I was distressed to read that fifty eight pastors extended their support to Ray Moore after all that happened. So much for religion.

Kat is up on the barricades again! I love the defiant tone of your poems. It’s what we need, to keep talking about it and not stop until equality in every respect is no longer an issue.
