The car window whined and knocked as Roger pressed the down button repeatedly.
“Gotta get that fixed,” he mumbled. A blast of misty air smelling of fish and diesel fuel assaulted his nostrils.
He hated the ferry. The cars and trucks sandwiched in rows, bumper to bumper like sardines triggered his claustrophobia.
On choppy days like today, the teeter-tottering of the vessel would likely curdle the yoghurt he’d had for breakfast. It wouldn’t be the first time he’d lost the contents of his stomach on this trip. But this would be the last time. He just didn’t know it yet.

I’ve been on a few ferry trips…once when the ocean was stormy. It was a bit unsettling.

Oh oh… Of course, he may discover later in the day that he inherited a huge fortune if he leaves immediately for Omaha, where i doubt there are many ferries going over the fishy, salty water 😉 But there is something ominous about the way you said it….

Dear Kat,
Now that’s an open ended ending. Menacing or not? I’m curious. Nicely done.

I’ll hope his new anti-nausea med proves totally effective. Otherwise this doesn’t sound like a happy ending coming up.
Interestingly enough, years back when I took chemo the first time, I always had yoghurt for dinner before I went in. Since it’s already digested I figured it would be easier on my stomach. Never had trouble with nausea either. ☺

I learned something new about the healthy qualities of yoghurt. Hope all is well with you. Thanks for sharing your experience. 😊

That was back in 1981 as part of treatment for breast cancer. I’ve survived all these years and am very thankful for that. I don’t know if the yoghurt was the ticket to avoiding nausea, but it definitely is healthy.
