A poem (comprised of 5 10-syllable lines with end words on each line that rhyme) for Jane Dougherty’s Poetry Challenge #50 based on the painting you see here. It just so happens that there is buzz in the news this week that NASA has discovered a new constellation. Well not a new one, it’s been there for eons, but their revelation has caused them to suggest that there are 13 zodiac signs not 12. This is terribly confusing and I am afraid I cannot wrap my brain around the new “me”. Here’s my nifty little poem about stargazing.
I’ve always known that I’m a Gemini,
guided by twin stars in the night sky.
Its signs and attributes to me apply,
but scientific theory now implies
I’m Taurus born! That’s Bull I just can’t buy!

Oh, how lovely. I was born on the first of August.
We Leos are quite proud and adventurous so I think anyway. 😉

A new constellation won’t change a thing. Your birthdate and place are what determines your sign – not a new constellation! The zodiac remains the same, even with Pluto’s ‘demotion.’
You could be a cuspian, though – I detect a bit of Taurean stubborn-ness in your insistence!

Haha! Thank you for the clarification! I am so relieved. I am nicely situated in the middle range of Gemini. 😉

Perfect! Maybe you have some earth signs in your astrological chart? You never know…

You stick to your guns, Kat. Is there a god of zodiac signs? You can always become a fundamentalist and keep the old 12 signs.

Haha…I don’t know if I could embrace fundamentalist anything! ♊️

Same here. I’m sure they wouldn’t want to embrace me, anyway.

Love this! And i’ve learned that i am a Cancer.. not a Leo! I am NOT a crab. I have been, and will always be, as far as i’m concerned, a BIG cat. 🙂

Haha, isn’t it funny how incredulous we all get at the suggestion we are not who we think we are?! 😊

Indeed! And a crab is okay, really. At least i’m not a stinging scorpion. 🙂

I don’t believe I know any scorpios. That’s odd isn’t it? 😊

I don’t know any now either. Dated one in college though. Maybe that’s why I’m glad I’m not one. Ended up not liking him much at all. 🙂

I almost forgot…here’s the proof that there is no change to the astrological chart! I knew that I had this bookmarked, somewhere:

So everyone, just keep rocking the sign that you are!

Fun poem, and I see above that the birth signs did not really change. I had seen something about that, too.
My husband and I jokingly read our horoscopes in the paper, but I am not at all like what I always hear about Sagittarius–outgoing, athletic. 🙂

I think the theory has been debunked. But it made for fun inspiration for this poetry challenge. 😊
