she paints the cobalt sky with light
a gift of stars for wanderers
bright hope for weary travelers
to guide them through the dark of night
to help them set their course aright
to lead them on a path secure
she paints the cobalt sky with light
a gift of stars for wanderers
soaring on the wind she takes flight
to rise up to Valhalla’s shore
to lead brave heroes slain in war
to their reward for well-fought fights
she paints the cobalt sky with light.

I like the form you chose. I’ve read several entries now in formal verse. It seems to suit the image.

Initially I was going to do a minute poem, but then I saw you had chosen that form. So I looked for one I hadn’t done in a while. I like the way it allows for a story to be told with the repeating lines throughout. 🙂

Repetition is a brilliant way to recreate a song.

Brilliant poem, I really enjoyed it! I thought cobalt was blue though, is that painting green? Could be my eyes and monitor though. I’m a bit daft right now dashing left and right and trying to catch up.

It is. I had to use the prompt words and cobalt was one of them. 🙂

Will do. Hope I didn’t offend. 🙂 I like to refer to people by name when responding. Thanks again Michael! 🙂

Oh, not at all, Kat. I just wanted to point out that M. Zane is just my byline, but I do go by Michael. Thanks for clarifying. I appreciate you.

Wonderful poem, Kat. I like the image of painting the sky to guide wanderers.

This too is like a ballad. It works so well with the image. Lovely rhythm.
