Eyes piercing, flash gray
Lips, on the cusp of a smile
With secrets to tell.

For TJ’s Household Haiku Challenge: Choose a painting or sculpture for this week’s prompt. Recently while visiting the National Gallery of Art, I happened upon this painting by Renoir.
Once she had captivated me, I couldn’t look away. I imagined that she had quite a story to tell, but alas, she lounges suspended in colorful oil paint daubs on canvas for eternity intriguing passersby like me.

A great haiku inspired by the prompt. What an intriguing lady. She must have a few very delicious secrets to share I am sure.

It is so lovely to see the actual size and texture of the originals. I never appreciated Van Gogh until I saw his picture of his room close up. Just stunning.

Your haiku goes great with the painting. She looks exotic, doesn’t she? Renoir is my favorite painter!

It was so beautiful in person. I was so familiar with Renoir’s more impressionist paintings that I had to double check to make sure it was actually a Renoir.
