“No silly, honey doesn’t grow on trees!”
“But you said we was goin’ to the Honey Tree, Auntie Sue!”
“Yes I did! It’s a special store on Shore Drive. And this is the perfect time of day to visit. When the sun is setting, it gives the store fronts an amber glow.”
“Whatsa namberglow?”
“Amber glow, Sarah. It’s the color of the buildings when the sun sets just so…like gold…do you see it?”
“Oh, I see it…oooh…I like amber glow!”
“Well the reason we’re going to the Honey Tree right this minute is because I heard that the beeswax candles you buy at sunset are magic. You can make a wish when you light them.”
“Any wish, Auntie Sue?”
“Any wish.”
“And your wish will come true?”
“Well I guess we’ll never find out unless we try.”
“You know what I gonna wish for Auntie Sue?”
“I think I might. I’m gonna wish that too.”
“I wish that mommy will get better. That’s what I wish.”
“Me too sweetie…me too…”

I am not sure Maddy. It is the photo Priceless Joy provided us for the story challenge. The photo was is credited to A Storyteller’s Abode. Here’s a link to that blog: https://thestorytellersabode.wordpress.com/about/
Maybe they can tell you where they took the photo. 🙂

You’re welcome. 🙂 It’s a nice town though unfortunately, like many English seaside resorts, it’s fallen into decline in recent years – most people choose to go abroad for their sun, sea and sand holidays rather than risk the uncertainty of an English summer.

I would love the fact that it is less crowded. I’m not a sun worshipper…I love the sea for the salty air and its eternal horizons and the sound of water lapping the shores. I think I would love Morecambe. 🙂

I’m the same. When I’m abroad I tend to complain that I’m too hot!

It felt very English afairymind so I’m glad to hear that. I have never been to Morcambe but English seaside towns have an atmosphere all of their own. The golden light you have captured in the photo is beautiful.

English seaside towns are lovely, though too many are in decline these days. Their heyday was in the fifties and sixties, before package holidays abroad became the norm. The light that evening was gorgeous – it had been raining all day and the clouds broke just in time for a gorgeous sunset.

Thanks PJ! I noticed the name of the little store on the right. I like zooming in on the details. BTW…I noticed that my dog consistently looks at my right eye and side of the face…the plot thickens! 🙂

Aww, so sweet! It seemed like such an innocent drive to The Honey Tree at first, just a casual exchange between a woman and her niece, but the ending is just heartbreaking. Well done 🙂

This brought back memories. Whenever someone’s life would be in turmoil of some sort, my mother used to walk over to church and light prayer candles…and everything always turned out fine 🙂
